The Spence Mountain trails offers the best mountain biking in Southern Oregon. The growing trail system is also well loved by runners and hikers thanks to directional trails that enhance the experience for all.

 

Besides great riding, Spence Mountain trails are surrounded with incredible views of Upper Klamath Lake and the surrounding Cascade Mountains.

 

Spence Mountain is home to a large resident population of Bald Eagles. Shoalwater Bay and Queen of the Lake offers excellent birding along the marshes.

 

Spence Mountain is owned by Klamath County and showcases 59 miles of professionally built mountain biking trails.

Shoalwater Bay Trailhead

To access the Shoalwater Bay trailhead continue west on Hwy 140 for 5 more miles,
then turn right on Eagle Ridge Rd and continue 2 more miles.

Spence Mountain Trailhead

The main Spence Mt trailhead is located 15 miles west of Klamath Falls on Hwy 140.

  • Respect Wildlife: Responsible viewing is better for wildlife and better for you! Watch but don’t intrude.
  • Etiquette: WHEELS YIELD TO HEELS. Bikes Yield to Foot Traffic. Downhill Yields to Uphill.
  • Share the Trail: Take care while passing others, slow down on crowded trails and be prepared to stop. Be Kind to one another, it’s a beautiful day!
  • Pets: Clean-up after and be in control of your pets at all times.
  • Environment: PROTECT IT! Stick to the trail, carving shortcuts and skidding tires will damage the ecosystem. Tread lightly, ride dirt trails not muddy trails.
